Here is a list of events happening in our Mainstay Hotel locations.
From the top of the North to the bottom of the South:
Waitangi Family Day
This is a great family day and the perfect way to celebrate New Zealand’s Waitangi Day.
Waitangi Day, 6th February, starts at 5am with the traditional dawn service followed by a church service. Throughout the day there will be continuous entertainment and over 100 market stalls with art, craft, clothing and a large variety of food.
Children’s activities include a bouncy castle, touch rugby games and the Fire Service Combat Challenge on the sports field.
Navy Band will perform from 11:30am followed by the 21 gun salute at noon and an aerial display by the Royal NZ Air Force aerobatics flying team The Red Checkers.
Between 15 and 20 waka will be on the water throughout the day. During high tide in the early afternoon Ngātokimatawhaorua, New Zealand’s largest ceremonial canoe, will make an appearance as well (weather depending).

Opononi Hotel is delighted to host Riff Raff 2013 to tribute to ACDC, from Saturday 16 February 2013 to Sunday 17 February 2013.
Buffalo Beach Reserve will see 150 cars desending into Whitianga for the annual Cannonball Run.
Multi-award winning nu-metal icons Linkin Park are bringing their LIVING THINGS World Tour to Auckland's Vector Arena on Thursday, 21 February 2013.
Since their 2000 debut album Hybrid Theory Linkin Park have spent the last decade blending rap and rock, resulting in some of the most commercially successful radio hits this side of the millennium.
Now, as they celebrate their fifth studio album LIVING THINGS Chester Bennington, Mike Shinoda and crew are bringing their Grammy-award winning cache of songs to New Zealand for one of the biggest international performances this summer.
Linkin Park last rocked New Zealand in 2007 in front of a sold-out, capacity crowd at Vector Arena, so be there this February as Linkin Park raise the roof once again!
An almighty line-up of reggae musicians will descend on Rotorua for the 6th annual RAGGAMUFFIN music festival on 1 & 2 February 2013.
With more internationals than ever before, mixed in with the best homegrown talent, festival-goers will be guaranteed a mind blowing festival experience.
Kiwi additions to the line up include this year's Tui winners for Best Roots Album, The Black Seeds, who will headline the Friday night and eternal faves Three Houses Down. These stellar artists will join an exciting lineup of stars including RAGGAMUFFIN fans' most requested artist MS LAURYN HILL plus Katchafire, Herbs, Tomorrow People, Brownhill and Swiss.
The vibe at the Village Stage will be huge too. Performing there over the two days will be artists including DJ Sirvere and the Club Kingz, Darky Roots, Common Kings, Black Seeds, Gappy Ranks, Zkabby Jams (Smokefree Pacifica Beats Winners), Hot Rain Ft Siaosi, Three Houses Down, The Green, and two of last year's Raggamuffin Roadtrip favourites, Fiji and J Boog with a special guest appearance from Monsta G.
The Classic Hits Winery Tour Featuring Fat Freddy's Drop, Anika Boh & Hollie, The Adults
Civic Events, promoter of the annual Classic Hits Winery Tour is proud to reveal the line up for the 2013 Summer Tour: Headliners are the Wellington based seven-piece masters of dub, reggae, soul and RnB - Fat Freddy’s Drop, joined by the sensational Anika Boh & Hollie: Together in Concert and another collaboration of equally legendary kiwi musicians, The Adults, featuring Jon Toogood, Julia Deans and Shayne Carter.
Now in its 7th year, the 2013 Classic Hits Winery Tour presents 17 shows across 16 spectacular outdoor venues from Tutukaka in the North to Dunedin in the South and will be hitting New Plymouth on Tuesday 12 February at Sentry Hill Estate.
On 23rd Febraury get involved in a Kururau Krusher! A 109km multi-sport event - 44km Road Cycle, 16km Run, 23km Kayak, 16km Mountain Bike. Individual & teams full multi-sport course plus single leg options & 10km walk.
GEON Art Deco Weekend
Over 200 events are hosted in Napier and at other various locations across Hawke’s Bay, this is one of the largest events of its type in New Zealand - the GEON Art Deco Weekend, 14-17 February 2013.
Featuring over the Weekend are hundreds of 1920s and '30s cars, aerobatic flying displays, steam train rides, a great Gatsby picnic, dinner dance extravaganzas and free outdoor concerts to name a few. Many thousands of guests and locals alike dress in Deco style bring glamour to the city streets. Feel the atmosphere, live the era of mystique, if only for a few days. The celebrations are a major attraction and must to see and do when visiting this lovely city and region.
Hertz Sevens 2013
Join the thousands of fans embracing the passion and energy of Sevens rugby.
The Hertz Sevens is the fifth leg in the HSBC Sevens World Series, played in Wellington 1-2 February 2013. A major event on the national sporting calendar, the Hertz Sevens features teams representing 16 countries from all over the world in a two day action packed tournament.
A hugely popular event, each year 35,000 fans flock to the capital crowding flights, streets and bars alike with a flurry of costumes and fun. The streets of Wellington become a carnival of colour as groups flock to the streets dressed as superheroes, robbers, pirates and ninjas, before heading to Westpac Stadium to cheer on their team.
Don Burnham & the Fern Frond Boogie Boys
Don Burnham and the Fern Frond Boogie Boys tour Aotearoa in 2013, bringing their contemporary and classic Western Swing songs and tunes to New Zealand audiences and will be playing in Picton on 3rd February 2013.
Burnham is an inductee in the Western Swing Hall of Fame, and with his Kiwi wife Sarah Duckworth, vocals, plus ace musos Scott Lawrence, piano, and Jon 'Doc' Stein, steel guitar, the band will swing around New Zealand, featuring Don's song/ode to Aotearoa - the Fern Frond Boogie.
Best known as founder and leader of the all-star Lost Weekend Western Swing Band, Burnham has 3 CDs to his credit. His latest CD 'I Dreamed Count Basie Was A Cowboy' charted in the top 5 Western Swing albums of 2011-2012.
The Marlborough Wine & Food Festival 2013
The Marlborough Wine & Food Festival is New Zealand’s leading premier wine festival. This iconic event showcases the very best of Marlborough in one stunning vineyard location. With a wide array of events happening throughout the day, there is something for everyone.
On Sat 09 Feb 2013 Brancott Vineyard will be packed with unique selections of award winning Marlborough wine, delicious gourmet cuisine, wine seminars, a fashion show and outstanding entertainment from Avalanche City and the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra.

The wine will be chilled, the acts will be hot and the surrounds picture perfect.
One of New Zealand’s best loved acts, OPSHOP, are set to headline the countryside convoy, alongside Aria Award winning Australian artist Missy Higgins. Iconic Kiwi artists Che-Fu and Aaradhna will join them, performing a highly anticipated soul set together, as well as their classic solo hits.

Festival Nelson Lakes
This year's Nelson Lakes Festival is being held at St Arnaud, Nelson Lakes National Park from 16-17 February 2013. The Festival is a celebration of 170 years of European association with the area and will feature historical films, trails and archives displays. The Festival will also be a fundraiser for our local emergency services. On the Saturday you can watch the Waka Ama regatta on the lake, on Sunday from 9am there will be an art and craft Market at Kerr Bay featuring local artists and artisans.
Come and meet these talented people, see some of them at work and take the chance to buy some of their crafts. Plenty of yummy food stalls too, so bring the family up to picnic beside the lake.
JGeeks - Tu Meke Tour
One of New Zealand's hottest entertainment acts are set to stomp their home-ground of Aotearoa. These metro Maoris are getting down, brown, and coming to Kaikoura on 28th February with their unique Maori 'tongue in cheek' fusion of dance, music, singing, skits and pop culture.
These metro Maoris will perform their smash hits 'Maori Boy', 'Icky Sticky' and their latest hit 'The Best Day I Ever Had'.
Expect high energy, high impact, creative Maori unlike ever before. A great show for all ages and a performance not to be missed!
The Great Kiwi Beer Festival
The Great Kiwi Beer Festival, in Christchurch’s Hagley Park on 23rd February, is a day-long celebration of brewing in New Zealand, hosted by industry experts and featuring a range of over 100 local, national, and international brews.
Attendees will be able to sample brews from diverse locales spanning from Europe to Asia, and the presence of many brew-masters onsite will give patrons the opportunity to interact with the people behind their favourite brands.
With live performances (including SuperGroove), beer and food matching, cooking demonstrations, seminars and much more, The Great Kiwi Beer Festival is the ultimate “cheers” to New Zealand.

Although there are currently no events on during February in Punakaiki, The Club Bar & Jacob's Grill Restaurant at Punakaikai Resort provide two perfect settings to relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery of Punakaiki Beach. Relax in front of the fire or, on a warmer day, sit out on the beachfront balcony and dine truly al fresco.
A Low Hum is very proud to present Mount Eerie from, Washington!
Performing and recording under the moniker The Microphones (1997-2002) and as Mount Eerie from 2003 onwards, Phil Elverum has released a slew of incredible recordings. Since the name change, Elverum has released a few singles, and limited vinyl-only releases. Check out this amazing alternative musician at the Barrytown Hall in Greymouth, 4 February 2013.
Mihirangi - Somebody Shake the Tree Album Tour
Mihirangi has had an expansive journey, having toured for 7 years, 5 times around the globe and performing at more than 50 international festivals. She has captured her favourite songs from these experiences in the studio creating the ‘Somebody Shake The Tree’ album.
Singing in both Maori and English, Mihirangi creates her own band sound live in front of her audience. Utilizing a loop pedal, the key to her music is the layering of her own vocal sounds. From the foundation of earth-shaking bass lines to intricately layered harmonies, rhythmic ‘ska’ chops, sensuous jazzy riffs and beat boxing – it’s all done with the power of her voice. A solo artist and multi-instrumentalist Mihirangi also plays percussion, keyboards, guitar and Taonga Puoro (traditional Maori instruments).
She has performed with Public Enemy, Arrested Development, Sly and Robbie, Michael Franti and Lee Scratch Perry. She’s entertained Hollywood A-listers including Pierce Brosnan and Martin Sheen. And played along side fellow socially-conscious artists such as The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and The Dixie Chicks
Within New Zealand she has performed at the 2011 Rugby World Cup in Auckland, at Pasifika Festival, WOMAD and now on her own tour, in her homeland of Aotearoa. She will be performing at our very own Beachfront Hotel on 9th February.

Although there are currently no events on during February in Fox Glacier, High Peaks Hotel restaurant offers a great selection of cuisine including New Zealand beef, lamb, venison and salmon. The a la carte menu features mouth-watering cuisine that continues to delight guests from all over the world.
The bar offers a selection of the famous West Coast Monteiths ale on tap and a range of New Zealand wines. The deck area is an ideal spot to watch the sunset and a great place for pre-dinner drinks on a summer’s evening.
The Butterfly Collector - The Lepidopterist is a charming and at times darkly funny theatrical treat, exploring certain aspects of human nature that many share. This visual show is for all ages.
Hell-bent on completing his collection, the Lepidopterist hunts-down and finally comes face-to-face with his last outstanding objective. The chase ensues in the form of action-packed comedy, combining feats of spectacular visual circus with poignant buffoonery and some really interesting facts about butterflies.
So if you would like a giggle or two, get yourself to Ashburton Trust Event Centre on 22nd, 23rd or 24th February.
The Eastern are a string band that roars like a punk band, that swings like a gospel band, that drinks like a country band, that works like a bar band. Over the past five years having delivered up three albums – ‘The Eastern’, 'Arrows' and 'Hope & Wire')
Hope and Wire debuted at number 11 on the national charts and maintained a top ten position in the NZ artist charts for the two months following as well as gathering incredible reviews across NZ and beyond. The song 'State Houses By The River' from Hope and Wire became a final five nominee in the APRA Silver Scroll NZ song of the year award. Marking their reputation as a fierce live act The Eastern spent eight months on the road in 2012 around NZ and Australia and begin 2013 with a four week tour of NZ.

Ruby Island Cabaret
Bringing back the legendary 1920s Island Cabarets that have now reached folklore status within the region, people get to experience the magic of a bygone era in the most perfect setting.
Over 80 years ago, between 1928 and 1931, the infamous Ruby Island cabaret ran through the summertime, on Saturday nights. Locals still recall magical tales from their ancestors about these events. In a rare decision, permission has been granted to resurrect the cabaret.
Live ragtime, Dixieland and jazz tunes will fill the evening air thanks to the amazing Roseneath Centennial Ragtime Band (Wellington) and the glorious Bella Kalolo. A piano is being helicoptered out in what looks like being a first for Ruby Island.
So, on the 3rd February 2013, Ruby Island will become a cabaret spectacular - don’t miss out as this is event is one not to be missed.
