Opononi/Hokianga

Three Houses Down

Three Houses Down are gearing up for a three-date tour and will be performing live at the Opononi Hotel on Saturday 8 June 2013.

The six song EP is a teaser of what's to come later in the year with the uplifting title track already being well received at radio.

Since starting out in 2004, Three Houses Down have been cultivating their own special fusion of roots, reggae and rock.

They have played to huge crowds in Hawaii and the US over the past three years, and listened to thousands of American fans singing their lyrics during opening performances for Ali Campbell of UB40.

 

Whitianga

Dancing in the Wake

Dancing in the Wake: based on the life of Lucia Joyce, daughter of James Joyce.

Dancing in the Wake tells the lively and ultimately tragic story of an extraordinary and talented young woman who grew up in the shadow of her famous father, James Joyce.

The play blends drama, dance and music to tell Lucia’s story – diagnosed in her mid-twenties with schizophrenia – supported by her friend and troubled lover, the playwright Samuel Beckett, and having to struggle with the differing views of her parents, James Joyce and Nora Barnacle, on the state of her health.

Playing in Whitanga for one night only – Saturday 15 June 2013.

 

Auckland

An Evening With Julie Andrews

This special event takes audiences on an incredible journey through the life and career of one of the world’s most popular icons. From her London stage debut at the age of 12 to her defining roles in Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music, Victor/Victoria and the Princess Diaries, Julie Andrews' extraordinary life story will unfold in a frank and funny evening of personal memories and insights spanning six decades.

This very special, one night event on Wednesday 5 June will be hosted by Nicholas Hammond, the actor who played Friedrich von Trapp in the film The Sound of Music opposite Julie Andrews.

The Gypsy Travellers Fair

On Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th June, Rotorua's Soundshell & Village Green will be transformed into The Gypsy Travellers Fair!

The fair features art, crafts, tarot readings, crystals, incense, ethnic fabrics, funky jewellery, ornaments, hair braids, pet wear, giftware, wooden toys, friendship bracelets, fabulous ladies' wear and much more. Hot food, cold drinks, paintball and a bouncy castle will also be there - so come and enjoy the atmosphere.

Who says winter has to be boring!

The F.A.W.C – Food And Wine Classic is a festival to celebrate the season with tasty cuisine, delightful wine and maybe a whiskey or two.  

Napier and The Hawkes Bay plays host a range of events including tastings, special menus and seminars. Underground cellars will be put to good use this winter with local food & wine offerings and good music echoing off the walls. The farmers markets will be packed with seasonal winter fruits and vegetables and dining out in Hawke’s Bay this June will have twist of F.AW.C!

Dave Upfold

As seen on TV3's "Campbell Live" programme, Dave Upfold is known for his energetic, engaging and enthralling live show involving audience participation and utilising the power of the mind. With no two shows ever being the same, Upfold has been entertaining audiences around the globe with his live hypnosis comedy show for over 16 successful years.

All who witness the show may walk away with a renewed sense of humanity, and generally a sore stomach from so much laughter! So if you feel like a giggle to lighten up those winter blues, Nelson is the place to be on 14th and 15th June!

The Glenn Miller Orchestra

The Glenn Miller Orchestra, is a concert spectacular that promises the audience a sentimental journey down memory lane on the eve of Glenn Miller’s 75th anniversary.

Featuring the world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra, The Moonlight Serenade Singers and The Broadway Swing Dancers, the great ‘Big Band’ hits, the original Glenn Miller arrangements, the music of The Andrews Sisters, the Frank Sinatra Songbook, the romantic World War II melodies made famous by Vera Lynn – music which captivated millions of people worldwide.

Even after 75 years, Glenn Miller’s musical arrangements are still heard and loved around the world – timeless icons of American culture such as Chattanooga Choo-Choo, In the Mood, Tuxedo Junction, A String of Pearls, Moonlight Serenade, Little Brown Jug and Pennsylvania 6-5000 to name a few.

On the 21st June, Greymouth will become more alive than ever. The Glenn Miller Orchestra will bring a colourful and flamboyant evening filled with fun and nostalgia of the 1930s and 1940s.

The Johnny's

If you are in Hoki and love a bit of a boogie to a good ole classic, check out The Johnny’s - an all girl band who feature Johnny Cash's greatest songs. They have performed in Nashville for the Cash family who have said they were the best ever!

 

Fox Glacier

Although having played and performed in many different lineups he has recently been embarking on solo acoustic missions, no backing band, no gimmicks or fancy effects, just his acoustic guitar, vocal chords & Bigfoot Stomp box.

The American Express Queenstown Winter Festival

Dunedin Midwinter Carnival

The Dunedin Midwinter Carnival has established itself as one of Dunedin city’s major annual events with thousands of people braving the year's longest night and chilly winter conditions for a creative extravaganza in the heart of the city every year.

This year's Midwinter Carnival event will be held on Saturday 22 June, the closest Saturday to the Winter Solstice. The theme for the 2013 event is 'Journeys of Discovery' and will feature stunning new giant lanterns, entertaining performances and dazzling costumes - not to mention the fireworks, the wonderful food stalls, music and fire performance!

This year’s line-up of musicians, dancers, stilt walkers and entertainers will be richer and stronger than ever, drawing on the talents and energies of a huge range of local artists.
